Ecuador Radio Club Recognizes ARRL Emergency Preparedness Manager, Ham Aid -- ARRL Emergency Preparedness Manager Mike Corey, KI1U, was recognized by the Guayaquil Radio Club (GRC) of Ecuador for coordinating the work of the ARRL and of several other radio amateurs to provide Ham Aid equipment to Ecuador this past spring, following the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in April. National Level Mass Care Exercise Registration
JCARES is participating in the NLE Mass Care exercise on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. It represents all aspects receiving, sheltering, and feeding evacuees from the eastern side of the state following a 7.7 earthquake in the NMSZ (New Madrid Seismic Zone). In a real world situation the KC area could receive as many as 250,000 evacuees.
Eastern Jackson County and the City of Independence will operate an Evacuee Reception Center, 3 shelters, 2 Point of Distribution (PODs) and a feeding kitchen.
The hours of operation will be from 8 am to 5 pm.
Amateur radio will play a major role in the communications between the locations of the exercise. It is important that we can provide adequate staffing at the locations. VHF, UHF and APRS will play a part in addition to possibly some digital.

Good afternoon all,
I have a First Aid and CPR training class scheduled for January 9, 2015 at the Platte County Resource Center EOC, 11724 NW Plaza Circle, Kansas City, MO 64153 from 0800 to 1700. The class size on this will be set to 25. If you are interested please send you full name, your home email (this is how you will get your certificate) and your home address. I will forward all information to the instructors who will register you with American Red Cross.
I will ask that you plan on bringing a lunch and I will supply coffee, water and soda for the class. If you have any questions please contact me. This will qualify for CERT training for all CERT members. I would like to have all those who would like to sign up to the class have your information to me by December 31, 2015 by noon.

2015 SKYWARN Recognition Day

SKYWARN Recognition Day was developed in 1999 by the National Weather Service and the American Radio Relay League. It celebrates the contributions that volunteer SKYWARN radio operators make to the National Weather Service.
