First, We at the National Weather Service want to pass on to the Amateur Radio community and our hope for a happy and safe Thanksgiving.
Skywarn Recognition Day 2011 will be this December 3 from 0000z to 2400z. We are looking for volunteers to be operators and loggers for this event. The event starts at 6 pm CDT, Friday December 2 and ends 6 PM CDT, Saturday December 3.
In the Kansas City area there are two locations where Amateur radio operators can visit the National Weather Service and participate in this special event.

Pleasant Hill (KC0SKY) will have HF phone and VHF stations Central Region Headquarters (KC0NWS) will operating on HF phone, VHF, PSK, APRS, winlink and echolink.
This is the thirteenth SKYWARN Recognition Day. The first was held in December 1999. The intention was to conduct a test to show how communication could be maintained regardless of what would happen during the dreaded Y2K. Today the event has grown to most of the 100 plus Weather Service Office across the country.
If you can not join us at the one of the National Weather Service locations. Please meet us on the air and see how many offices you can reach.

Subject: Rural Region A Amateur Radio Net
As discussed in yesterdays Region A Statewide Planning Southern District Committee meeting,
we will conduct an amateur radio net for Emergency Management and Health Care Agencies.
We will conduct the first net on Wednesday Nov 30th at 10 am. We will use the Warrensburg
repeater, frequency 146.88 PL 107.2
When each agency checks in we will need the following information:

Our next meeting will be held at the Clay County Sheriff's Training Center in Liberty this month. Meeting / training will be from 7 pm till 9 pm.
